Its been a while.

July 26, 2011

We’ll its been a while but we’ve been pretty busy. In January we kicked off a Kitchen Renovation at McCauley Manor and that took us about 2.5 months. Photos of our work are online here .

We’re getting back on the renovation wagon and did brick molding on the back of Pinedale this past weekend.

Guest Room Repaint and Closet Project (pt.2)

April 5, 2010

The guest room closet was a mess! The floor and the ceiling had to be fixed and we installed can lights. Here is how our project went.

No more frame…Now what?

Now for the floor… Here’s the floor.

Pic 001

We had to remove the linoleum and replace the damaged hardwoods. Underneath the linoleum tiles was plywood and underneath that was a section of hardwood (and an exciting hint that there could be hardwood under the tile kitchen floor!).

Hardwood underneath!

We patched in the hardwood floors.

And done!

Guest Room Re-paint and Closet Project (pt. 1)

April 5, 2010

We worked on the guest bedroom last spring as one of our first projects.  This winter we  decided to work on it again, add the Crown and Baseboards and work on the closet. This is the bedroom with the new paint color (Riviera Beach) and the crown and base boards.

Completed 001

One minor but important project that we had to complete was the access panel for the bathroom plumbing. Rather than closing up the space, we knew we wanted a way to make it always accessible. We considered a lot of options to keep it closed and settled on a Magnet.

Completed 002

Finally, our biggest project was the spare bedroom closet. The previous owner had already opened up the doorway but there were a few issues…

The closet floor before is part linoleum and part patched in drywall (where the door was opened up).

The ceiling was also a piece of work. This picture shows the remaining wall frame in the ceiling.

Shelves in the Closet. Happy Thought Indeed.

February 3, 2010

Chip and I took some inspiration from Ms. Martha Stewart and did a Coat Closet Makeover. We had to:

  • Tear up the ugly carpet. Thank goodness there were hardwoods underneath!
  • Finish installing the crown because this was our practice space.
  • Fill, sand, and paint the walls and ceiling.
  • Cut and stain the 3 small shelves.
  • Combine pieces to make a deep enough top shelf. Cut and stain it.
  • Install 78 screws to attach the brackets to the walls and shelf.
  • And install the bar.

Just a few more touch-ups until we can fill it up!
